JSC “Latvia's State Forests” (LVM) annually regenerates more than 10 000 ha of forest with high-quality and selected forest seedlings, performing most of the planting work with hand tools. Reforestation can also be carried out by mechanized means, and promoting technological development, increasing efficiency and raising the quality of forest planting, LVM announces tender “Provision of Mechanized Forest Planting and Soil Preparation Services Using Buckets for Making Uplifts in 2021–2023”.

“The subject of the tender is mechanized forest planting, creating uplifts with an excavator equipped with soil preparation and forest planting equipment. Thus, it is possible to reduce the costs of reforestation and work administration, increase work efficiency, while ensuring high quality of work. One planting machine replaces the manual work of three people, and the planting is carried out at the same time as the soil preparation work. By using mechanized means, it is also possible to significantly extend the season of reforestation works,” Mārtiņš Gūtmanis, LVM Silviculture Executive Director, tells about the advantages of mechanized planting.

In the framework of the announced tender, LVM offers to conclude longer-term contracts – until 2023.  The total scope of work offered – mechanized planting of forest in an area of 2940 ha. Tender proposals should be submitted in the Electronic Procurement System (EIS) by 25 August 2020, 12:00; a meeting for interested suppliers is planned both in person at 1 Vaiņodes Street, Riga and on-line on 13 August at 11:00.

LVM is an innovative company that focuses on the introduction of new technologies in its production process. LVM currently uses two planting machines and this year it is planned to plant 252 ha of forest using mechanized tools. The volume of the purchased services is growing every year, which suggests a stable and predictable cooperation between the service providers and LVM.
