When performing his daily duties in the forest, a Planner of JSC “Latvia's State Forests” (LVM) found a yet unknown inhabited sea eagle nest in the South Latgale Region. The eagle has chosen an ecological tree that was once left in the clearing as its nesting place.
One third of all sea eagles in Latvia choose ecological trees as suitable nesting places.
LVM employees find up to 600 large nests every year, many of which are nested by birds of protected species. To ensure their nesting, territories and buffer zones are created for the protection of habitats; LVM also monitors the nesting progress of these birds.
