JSC “Latvia’s State Forests” (LVM) follows the recent events related to the spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus in the country and restrictions set by the Cabinet of Ministers, therefore has cancelled the planned public events - the Latvian Forest Days at LVM Nature Park in Tērvete, the Open Forest Days in regions and several other activities. As the situation changes, new information will follow.
In accordance with Cabinet Order No. 105 of 14 March 2020, “Amendments to Cabinet Order No. 103 of 12 March 2020 “On Declaring a State of Emergency””, please be advised that previously agreed events in the areas managed LVM are also invalidated, and the coordination of any new events has been suspended until new information.
Currently, the CORONA-19 virus pandemic does not threaten LVM's core business: sustainable management of state-owned forests, providing wood and subterranean resources for the Latvian economy, growing quality seedlings for reforestation, and providing forest protection.
LVM has joined the #stayhome initiative urging people to be responsible in this emergency situation, and enjoy peace and fresh air in nature that is freely available to everyone here in Latvia. We have such beautiful nature, the Latvian state forests are full of forest trails and well-equipped recreation areas, where to indulge in leisurely walks and regain strength from everyday worries. At the same time, it is important to follow the precautionary measures developed by the Ministry of Health and the Centre for Disease Prevention and Control in order to prevent the spread of the disease and the virus.
