On 12 to 14 February, the Embassy of Latvia's State Forests will host an exhibition called “Latvian Apples at the Turn of Climate” (Latvijas āboli klimata griežos). The exhibition is organized in cooperation with the Institute of Horticulture, and everyone interested will have a wonderful opportunity to enjoy a number of different varieties of winter apples grown and bred in Latvia and elsewhere in the world. In turn, scientific lectures will answer both simple and complicated questions about the cultivation of apple and pear trees.
The exhibition will open on 12 February at 13.00, and in the three days of the exhibition, visitors will be able to enjoy ten different varieties of winter pears, as well as get expert advice on apple and pear breeding tricks under these rapidly changing climate conditions. In turn, on 13 and 14 February, the Institute of Horticulture will offer to purchase apples and other healthy snacks such as candid fruit, juices, syrups, and teas.

As time goes, the apple fashion also changes in the wide world of fruit-trees. Today, people have extensive interest in unusual apples, which differ from the supermarket offer, such as apples with red pulp or fruit trees that visually resemble columns. Work on the development of new apple varieties takes place both abroad and in Latvia – local breeders work on new, improved apple-tree varieties that would be resistant to diseases and give delicious, beautiful fruit that can be stored for a long time. It is also important that the trees themselves are easy to grow and take care of.
