Environmentally friendly lifestyle and healthy recreation opportunities in nature are valued more and more today. JSC “Latvia's State Forests” (LVM) Recreation and Tourism Centre “Ezernieki”, a very popular tourist destination among families with children and nature lovers who appreciate the magnificent landscapes of Lubāna Municipality, this year received the Green Certificate, which was presented by the Minister for Environmental Protection and Regional Development Juris Pūce. It is a special eco-label awarded for rational and environmentally friendly management.
“Recreation and Tourism Centre “Ezernieki” can be proud of this eco-label already since 2011. We are happy that this year we are among the 77 guest houses in Latvia that have been certified according to the criteria set by a commission of almost ninety experts, such as waste sorting, waste water disposal in an environmentally friendly way, and accessibility for people with disabilities and other requirements. We have received special recognition for our modern heating system, the use of eco-friendly cleaning products and the use of disposable tableware. Such a certificate is a part of high customer service culture, which includes an environmentally friendly and sustainable management,” says Egils Ozols, Director of “LVM Rekreācija un medības” (LVM Recreation and Hunting).
Recreation and Tourism Centre “Ezernieki” has a well-lit place for setting up a tent, football, basketball and volleyball courts, as well as swimming sites. Active recreation enthusiasts can hold sports games and engage in other activities in the open air. But for the cold winter evenings, there is always an opportunity to warm up enjoying the pleasures of sauna.
The Green Certificate is an eco-certification or environmental quality label for rural tourism companies of national importance, initiated in 1999 with the support of the Latvian Environmental Protection Fund and started in 2001 by the Latvian Rural Tourism Association “Lauku ceļotājs”. This certificate is awarded to tourism holdings by a commission of environmental experts. The certificate states that it is managed in an environmentally friendly way, conserving natural resources, preserving landscapes and biodiversity, and respecting local traditions.
See you in Ezernieki!
