Already for the third year, students of the Art Academy of Latvia have an opportunity to take part in the scholarship competition "Latvia's State Forests Scholarship in Art", organised by JSC "Latvia's State Forests" (LVM) in cooperation with the Art Academy of Latvia (AAL). The scholarship aims to promote student awareness of the forest as the largest renewable resource in Latvia, which is constantly growing. Until 28 November, the best competition entries will be on display at the LVM Customer Centre in Riga at 1 Vaiņodes Street, Riga.
Contestants had a task to form associations on the interaction of art with sustainable environmental development. In the framework of the competition theme “Young Stand” this year students had to associate creativity with the growing role of forests in the Latvian economy. AAL students were invited to participate in the competition by submitting one to two creative compositions in painting.
The winner of the competition will be announced at the end of the closing ceremony of the exhibition on 27 November 2019; from 2 pm till 4 pm. The winner will receive a single scholarship in the amount of EUR 1500.
The decision on granting the scholarship will be made by a jury consisting of representatives of LVM and AAL, assessing the contestants' artistic professionalism and work compliance with the creative task of the competition.
