audita att

This autumn, JSC “Latvia's State Forests” (LVM) structural unit “Zemes dzīles” (Subsoil Resources) in cooperation with SIA “Bureau Veritas Latvia” carried out a production process control certification surveillance audit at 50 mineral resources sites. As part of the audit, four new mining sites were included in the certified areas: “Saliena-Rīva, 2008. gada papildizpētes iecirknis”, “Peilēni”, “Ausāti” and “Apšēni”.

Aggregates of minerals are or will be available in these mineral deposits in accordance with the construction product regulated system “2+” and complying with EN 13242:2002+A1:2007 standard “Aggregates for unbound and hydraulically bound materials for use in civil engineering work and road construction”.

“Certified production process control means that the production of aggregates and mixtures of minerals conforms to international standards and has been assessed by a third party. It gives our partners confidence about the quality of the mineral materials. The company not only implements standard requirements, but also integrates production process control into its business processes, improving the company’s overall performance,” says Ģirts Tobijs, Auditor at SIA “Bureau Veritas Latvia”.

The surveillance audit showed that the production process controls are implemented correctly and in accordance with the following standards:

  • LVS EN 13242:2002+A1:2007 “Aggregates for unbound and hydraulically bound materials for use in civil engineering work and road construction”;
  • LVS EN 13043:2002, LVS EN 13043/AC:2004 “Aggregates for bituminous mixtures and surface treatments for roads, airfields and other trafficked areas”;
  • LVS EN 12620:2002+A1:2008 “Aggregates for concrete”.
  • LVM manages more than 100 mining sites located in the whole territory of the company, both “deep in the forest” and closer to the populated areas. Mining sites have been selected carefully so as not to endanger the environment but at the same time meet the needs of the company and the economy for sand, sand gravel and other minerals.
