At the end of the spring planting season, the state forests managed by JSC “Latvia's State Forests” (LVM) were restored in an area of more than 9 034 ha, planting more than 25.9 million young trees.
Edmunds Linde, LVM Forestry Planning Manager, tells about the challenges faced during the spring season of forest regeneration: “As usual, also this year we faced a number of challenges and peculiar situations; the changing weather conditions, the long drought period, as well as the lack of working hands required more time to carry out the planned work. We will continue the planting works in the autumn.”
In 2019, it is planned to plant forest in an area of 9 200 ha and restore it naturally in an area of 6 000 ha.
