The Embassy of Latvia's State Forests to Host the Lilac Day

Enjoying the beautiful spring scents and the magic of blossoming, today, on 25 April, the Embassy of Latvia's State Forests (LVM) invite all interested to take part in the Lilac Day. It is a great opportunity to choose the most attractive and suitable plant for your garden from LVM nurseries and the range offered by Dobele Institute of Horticulture, as well as to participate in an exciting lecture on different lilac varieties.

The Institute of Horticulture offers the visitors to choose from more than 20 different varieties of lilac. Ornamental seedlings grown in LVM nurseries will find a place in any garden or outdoor terrace.

Dr. Biol. Sarmīte Strautiņa, the Leading Researcher of the Institute of Horticulture, at 15.00 will introduce those present to the range of lilac varieties and their characteristics, will give advice on the choice of the right place and the planting process, as well as share recommendations for the cultivation of lilac: care, disease and pest control.

From 10:00 to 14:00, the Embassy will also provide an opportunity to purchase delicacies prepared by the Institute of Horticulture: apples, candied berries, juices and other healthy snacks.

On Tuesday, 7 May (from 17:00 until 20:00), the Embassy of Latvia's State Forests will host a workshop of potter Krists Ozoliņš, during which everyone interested will have an opportunity to create their own unique and practical works. The Embassy of Latvia's State Forests in Riga, at 1 Vaiņodes Street, is open from 9:00 to 18:00. Free parking is available for guests.
