Soil is prepared to provide proper growth conditions for young forest seedlings and to facilitate future cultivation of young trees. Some time ago, a chisel and a special forest plough were used to do this work, but today, technologies are being introduced that increase the quality and speed of this work.
JSC “Latvia's Sate Forests” (LVM) announces a tender “Soil Preparation and Promotion of Natural Regeneration with a Disc Plough and Soil Preparation with a Rotary Uplifter in 2019-2023”. The subject of the tender is the preparation of soil for reforestation and afforestation, by forming furrows and up-lifts.
In the open tender, LVM offers to conclude one-year or longer-term contracts. The total amount of the contracted work: 5978 ha with furrows and 6000 ha with up-lifts. Tender proposals should be submitted in the EIS before 10 April 2019; 13.00.
“Forest regeneration will be much more successful if the soil is prepared correctly. The conditions under which young trees are planted are different, so the chosen method of soil preparation is of great importance. By choosing the most appropriate soil preparation method, the young forest will grow faster and better. It is especially important to observe it in areas with high humidity,” says Edmunds Linde, Head of LVM Silviculture Planning.
An informative meeting for potential co-operation partners on the course of the tender, the procedure for the provision of services, preparation and submission of tender proposals in the Electronic Procurement System (EIS) will take place at LVM Customer Centre in Riga, 1 Vaiņodes Street on 21 March 2019 at 11.00.
