Looking forward to the annual Forest Days events, JSC “Latvia's State Forests” (LVM) also this year calls on school-age children to look for inspiration in the forest to participate in a creative drawing competition and to design a sticker on the theme “Forest for Latvia. The Next 100”. After long discussions, the jury chose the sticker made by Emīlija Prihodjko, a 6th grade student of Talsi Primary School, as the winner of the competition; the Choice Award was awarded to Eduards Jaujenieks, a 4th grade student of Aknīste Secondary School. Congratulations!
The works made by the winner of the competition and the recipient of the Choice Award will become a sticker that will be presented to all visitors of the Forest Days 2019 hosted by LVM. In order to determine the best of the nearly 700 entries submitted to the competition, the jury's representatives held intense discussions, since this year's drawings were particularly distinguished by their originality and portrayal of the patriotic theme.
The winner of the award will receive a set of the self-created stickers as well as a birch plywood skateboard made in Latvia and a trip for the whole class, family or a group of friends to the largest forest industry event “Latvian Forest Days”, which will take place in Latvia's State Forests Nature Park in Tērvete on 24 May.
Also this year, the jury decided to grant the Choice Award - it has been awarded to Eduards Jaujenieks, a 4th grade of Aknīste Secondary School. It is interesting that Eduards' drawing won the Choice Award in this competition also two years ago - that time as a 2nd grade student. Eduards will also be able to ride a new skateboard this summer and his drawing will also become a sticker.
Krista Gabriela Roba, an 11th grade student of Druva Secondary School (Saldus Municipality) was recognised as the winner of the competition last year at the first competition.
Every year, JSC “Latvia's State Forests” (LVM) calls on schools to get to know and explore the forest in educational events throughout Latvia. This is already the second year that forest friends will have an opportunity to visit the largest exploratory forest event in the Baltics - the Latvian Forest Days, which is to take place in Latvia's State Forests Nature Park in Tērvete on 24 and 25 May. During the event, participants will have an opportunity to see with their own eyes how a small seed turns into a forest, to explore how the forest machinery works and, of course, to participate in the diverse activities at more than 80 exploratory forest stops.
