Frozen water bodies and recultivated deposit slopes in JSC “Latvia's State Forests” (LVM) mineral extraction areas are not intended for winter activities. Entering places where mining is in progress or has been stopped for the season is prohibited and is life threatening.
“For recreation and winter activities, people choose both recultivated sites and areas where active mineral extraction is taking place. Skating on frozen water bodies in the areas of mineral extraction sites or moving around them by car or other means of transport is absolutely unacceptable. Besides, slopes or stacks are not intended for sledging, skiing or snowboarding. It can endanger own safety, as well as safety of those around you,” says Kārlis Volfs, Head of LVM Subsoil Manufacturing.
Warning signs have been set up at the gates of the mining areas.
Relaxation in these areas is allowed only after recultivation, when the area of the deposit and the water bodies are arranged and suitable for recreation, and not for moving around with motorised vehicles. Before going on ice or using the recultivated deposit slopes, LVM reminds that it is extremely important to ensure own safety, as well as safety of people around you.
In order to enjoy the snow-covered forest and rest in winter, LVM has set up over 350 well-maintained recreational areas and walking trails in its area. For more information about leisure activities please visit www.mammadaba.lv.
