Joint Stock Company "Latvia's Sate Forests" (LVM) would like to inform all interested that reconstruction works of Priedaine Observation Tower have been successfully completed.
"As already reported before, experts had found that there was some serious damage to the seventh staircase platform of the observation tower, and for safety reasons it was closed during the reconstruction period. All damages have been successfully eliminated and the tower is now open to visitors," says Edmunds Linde, LVM Silviculture Planning Manager.
The 32 m-high tower reveals a picturesque view of the forests of the Curves of the Daugava, of the town of Krāslava and a number of magnificent church tower tops. At the foot of the tower, there is a recreation area, where visitors can enjoy beautiful views of the specially protected area called Augšdaugava.
Since its foundation in 1999, LVM by implementing sustainable forest management has paid one billion euros to state and local government budgets. LVM's economic activities are carried out by maintaining and recovering forests, taking care of nature conservation, recreation opportunities and increasing timber volumes, as well as investing in expanding the forest land and developing forest infrastructure - renovation of drainage systems and forest road construction. The volume of timber in the forests managed by LVM increases by 12 million cubic metres annually.
