August, the last month of summer, has arrived. The time when trees give new shoots has passed, but the crowned plants now give fruit or spread seeds. This, in turn, attracts cherry pickers and nut pickers who should be particularly careful and keep in mind that not all forest bounty should be taken home.
Tritons of both species living in Latvia have left water bodies and turned into real terrestrial inhabitants. They may be seen in cool, shady places in deciduous and mixed forests. In turn, vipers can often be spotted sunbathing, they save their energy and do not move without a need - when they notice people approaching, they freeze in the hope that they would not be noticed.
