Already for the second year, students of the Art Academy of Latvia are encouraged to take part in the scholarship competition "Latvia's State Forests Scholarship in Art", organised by JSC "Latvia's State Forests" (LVM) in cooperation with the Art Academy of Latvia (AAL).
The scholarship aims to promote student awareness of the forest as the largest renewable resource in Latvia, which is constantly growing. Within the theme of the competition "Forest for Latvia. The Next 100" students are asked to link their creative activity with the growing role of the forest in the future of Latvia. The winner of the competition will receive a single scholarship in the amount of EUR 1500 (the amount includes taxes).
The competition is open to students of the the Art Academy of Latvia, who are asked to submit one to two creative compositions in painting, complying with the creative task of the contest. The works should be submitted in the Art Academy of Latvia 1st floor exhibition hall on 24 October 2017 from 11:00 to 15:00. The works should be supplemented with a completed contest application form with a description of the idea of the work.
Contestants' works will be exhibited in LVM Customer Centre in Riga, at 1 Vaiņodes Street from 1 to 30 November 2018. The scholarship winner will be announced in the closing ceremony of the competition exhibition to be held on 30 November.
The decision on granting the scholarship will be made by a jury who will assess the contestants' artistic professionalism and work compliance with the creative task of the competition. Scholarship competition entries will be evaluated by three AAL and three LVM representatives.
