Joint Stock Company "Latvia's State Forests" (LVM) hereby informs that in a regular technical inspection, damage has been detected in the structure of Vasenieki Swamp Trail Observation Tower, and therefore due to safety reasons it has been temporarily closed.
"When planning a visit, we would like to note that it will not be possible to climb the observation tower in the recreational facility. The wooden construction of the tower has become dangerous; therefore it has been decided to dismantle it. This year, it is planned to reconstruct Vasenieki Swamp Trail. The reconstruction works will include part of the trail and recreation platform, but reconstruction of the observation tower is scheduled for the next year," says Andris Verners, LVM Ziemeļkurzeme Regional Forest Management Planning Manager.
Vasenieki Swamp Trail is located in the nature reserve "Stiklu purvi", which was established in 1977, and is the largest high bog complex in Kurzeme. The four-kilometre long trail runs along picturesque bog rocks that are popular with water birds.
