As spring is approaching, Latvia's State Forests (LVM) invites all nature friends to participate in Forest Days activities and to explore our green gold - forest. This year, for the first time everybody who has forest in their heart will have an opportunity to come together in the largest exploratory forest event in the Baltics - Latvian Forest Days. The event is to take place in the Latvia's State Forests Nature Park in Tērvete on 25 and 26 May.
In Tērvete, in Kurbads' Land, the newest part of the Nature Park, on 25 and 26 May from 10.00 to 17.00, visitors of all ages will have an opportunity to explore more than 30 exploratory forest stops. They will see with their own eyes how forest changes - from a tiny seed to a finished wooden house. There will be diverse educational activities together with dwarves, witches and other forest inhabitants. The event will bring together a number of forest and nature related organizations, all of which will take care of the involvement and well-being of visitors. The participants will get acquainted not only with the forestry cycle, but also with forestry sector education and career opportunities. Our special guests will give performances on the stage, while Māris Olte and Pigman will share their wisdom and give some valuable tips; there will be music and a lottery of forest goodies.
Open Forest Days events are offered free of charge. To receive educational materials and a transport scheme, schools are advised to apply for the Latvian Forests Days by 20 April, by filling in the on-line application form that is available HERE. All information is provided by the Nature Park Information Centre
Forest Days are a tradition-rich series of events, which are organised with an aim of promoting public awareness of sustainable forest management. As every year, LVM offers everyone interested to take part in the Open Forest Days in LVM regions, where forest clean-up, restoration and planting works are scheduled to take place at specific places and dates.
Participants should organise their own transportation to the venue and some snacks to maintain energy through the day, as well as clothing suitable for forest expedition, and, of course, work gloves. The number of participants of LVM Open Forest Day events is limited (maximum 40); therefore those who have applied for a particular event to the contacts listed below will be given priority.
