On 18 June, LVM Kalsnava Arboretum will host the seventh blooming and colourful Peony Festival. This year is special, since the Arboretum peony collection consisting of more than 200 varieties, is celebrating its tenth summer.
Throughout the day, next to musical performances given by women's vocal ensemble "Ievziedi", men's choir "Silvicola" and Ieva Akurātere, Arboretum visitors will have an opportunity to enjoy a variety of activities: tours in the peony garden, advice on peony cultivation, auction of decorative exotic plants and a seedling market.
There will also be a special programme for the youngest visitors: fun games, environmental education games and creative workshops.
"Our visitors who each year come to see the blooming collection give the greatest inspiration and joy. In addition to the peonies, guests of LVM Kalsnava Arboretum will have an opportunity to explore a lot of different dendrological rarities," says Laima Zvejniece, "LVM Sēklas un stādi" Deputy Director.
Every year, the Arboretum peony collection gets bigger and richer in flowers and fragrances. It pleases its visitors not only with its magnificent colours of flowers, but also impresses with its unique petals and height differences at the time of flowering.
The collection also includes varieties cultivated by the well-known Latvian collector and peony breeder Aldonis Vēriņš.
Event tickets may be purchased in advance in LVM Kalsnava Arboretum and at 1 Vaiņodes Street, Riga.
