On 27 and 28 May, urging people to leave the city bustle to explore the charm of rural life, campaign "Open Days in Countryside" will be held in 180 rural tourist holdings in Latvia and Lithuania. The campaign is supported by JSC "Latvia's State Forests" (LVM) and organised by the Latvian Country Tourism Association "Lauku ceļotājs" in cooperation with the Lithuanian Tourism Association "Atostogos kaime".
On the days of the campaign, visitors will have an opportunity to try out a variety of activities: to head for a ride in a tractor, boat or SUP board, have a look into potter and blacksmith workshops, go horseback riding and get to know other animals living in farms, taste country goodies both from Latvian and Lithuania, as well as try to bake the Lithuanian traditional dessert called šakotis.
To make the best out of the day, guests are kindly requested to apply for their visits in advance. Don't forget to take along clothing and footwear suitable for travelling and rural environment. To be able to buy farm-made products, it is recommended to have some cash, since not everywhere it will be possible to pay with a bank card.
To make the day even more special, travellers can also capture the beauty of nature in one of Mother Nature's (Mammadaba) most popular leisure attractions. Visit the Mother Nature website http://www.mammadaba.lv/en/ to read about more than 400 leisure facilities throughout Latvia.
