The first round of the Latvian School Orienteering Cup supported by LVM took place in Lucavsala, Riga on 29 March. Altogether nearly 300 students from 37 schools in the vicinity of Riga took part in the Orienteering Cup. Laurels in this race were reaped by Sigulda State Gymnasium.
To remind participants of the importance of maintaining a clean environment, as well as to educate participants on nature protection issues, Pigman (Cūkmens), the patron of clean forests, having just woken up from his winter sleep visited Lucavsala.
The second Kurzeme-Zemgale round of the Latvian School Orienteering Cup will take place in Tērvete on 5 April. Each participant of this round will have an opportunity to visit LVM Nature Park in Tērvete, presenting their participant's number at the Park entrance.
The next Vidzeme-Latgale round of the race will take place in LVM Recreation and Tourism Centre "Ezernieki" in Lubāna Municipality on 12 April, while finals will be held in Jelgava on 19 April.
