Every year, members and supporters of Charity Foundation "Nāc līdzās!" (Come Along!)  again and again come together to draw inspiration in forest - the forest allures and heals, empowers and inspires. Already for the eighth year, children and young people with special needs participated in a forest clean-up and education event, revealed the secrets of the forest, and got to know its inhabitants. They also learnt what can be done, and what we should not do in the forest. At the end of the day the participants together with experienced employees of JSC "Latvia's State Forests" (LVM) took part in reforestation works by planting best quality pine seedlings.

"The forest clean-up and planting event is one of the most beautiful and healthiest events in the life of the members of the foundation. In recent years, a foster family from Bauska has joined us. There is no work in the forest too hard for the smallest members of the Seržāni family. Their foster parents skilfully teach them how to enjoy work and understand the very essence of the forest. The clean-up was also attended by visitors of special boarding schools and day-care centres, who took an active part and revealed their talents in a number of different activities," says Sarma Freiberga, Chairperson of the Foundation "Nāc līdzās!".

This year, 76 volunteers from day-care centres “Cerību tilts” and “Cerību ligzda”, the Seržāni foster family, Zālīte Special Boarding Elementary School, Riga Special Boarding Elementary School No.1 and No.5, individual participants, as well as volunteers and managers of the foundation took part in the clean-up works. Also singer Nikolajs Puzikovs, who is an old friend and supporter of the children of the foundation, participated in the event.

The participants of the clean-up agreed that such a day gives plenty of new knowledge about the forest, and its inhabitants; and what is even more important, it teaches people to be more attentive towards nature, preserve it and not litter in the forest. And it is no wonder, because the promise not to litter in the forest and to prevent others from doing so was given to Pigman himself - to the patron of clean forests.

To thank for the wonderful day, the representatives of the foundation presented a surprise to the LVM Zemgale Forestry employees - a book of poems "Ienākšana" (The Entry) by young Latvian authors. We hope that after such an inspirational day, there will be a plenty of new creative works!
