To enjoy a range of activities and feelings that can be experienced in different regions of Latvia, and to explore products grown, produced, and made in Latvia, JSC "Latvia's State Forests" and association for rural tourism "Lauku ceļotājs" invite everyone interested to take part in the events organised within the framework of the campaign "Open Days in Countryside" (Atvērtās dienas laukos). Guests will be offered such activities as sightseeing, enjoying countryside goodies, horseback riding, bread baking, mastering craftsmen secrets, and much more. On 14 May, all are welcome to visit 102 farms located in different regions of Latvia.
For this day many farms have prepared new interactive programmes for both - children and adults.
In a number of large farms, guests will not only have an opportunity to learn about efficient and modern management, but also admire almost "cosmic" technologies. Visitors will be welcome to take part in workshops, erudition relays, tasting of country goodies, horseback riding, and even tractor riding.
Within the framework of the campaign, guests will be able to learn the secrets of beer brewing in three breweries, explore the breweries and, of course, taste different kinds of beer. In turn those who enjoy home-made bread will have an opportunity to bake their own bread.
Several craftsmen will offer an opportunity to observe or even acquire the first skills in some valuable crafts. Guided by a potter, guests will also be invited to make their own "clay miracles", explore the manufacturing process of Vienkoči dishes and kneading doughs, and make a key pendant in a natural jewellery workshop. Visitors will be able to wicker baskets and watch stonecutter work in a creative workshop. Guests will be offered an opportunity to make a percussive instrument in the "Rain Tree" ancient crafts house or participate in candle casting workshops.
Nearly 29 different wild and domestic animals will welcome the guests: horses, cows, deer, goats, sheep, rabbits, donkeys, raccoons, marmots, squirrels, ponies, ostriches, pigeons, chickens, mandarin sucks, geese, turkeys, ducks, pheasants, peacocks, and many more. There will be a variety of delicacies like goat-milk ice cream or ostrich-egg omelet. And, of course, horseback riding.
