Holiday Guide: from witchcraft to the parade of seedlings

Walpurgis Night spells, exploration of the new Path of Power, opening of the collection of unusual trees and lianas - all this and more this weekend will be available to visitors of the recreation facilities managed by JSC "Latvia's State Forests" (LVM). With the support of the company, everyone interested will have an opportunity to draw inspiration and choose the best seedlings in the Parade of Seedlings in Sigulda, as well as to take on sporting challenges getting ready for the SEB MTB Marathon stage in Smiltene.

Walpurgis Night miracles and mysteries at LVM Nature Park in Tērvete

Both young and old, romantic and restless spirits whose hearts are longing for the unusual, are kindly invited to spend this Saturday (30 April) at LVM Nature Park in Tērvete. During the daytime guests will have an opportunity to take an idle walk in the spring, but already at 19:00, on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the friendly Valpurģītis, there will be spells, miracles and mysteries. The Dwarfs' Forest will offer activities for the smallest guests, while in the Witch's Forest starting from 23:00 anyone interested is invited to enjoy performances of some extraordinary guests. There will be fiery shows, a dance theatre performance, a concert and the already beloved star rain in the playground from 21:00 to 23:00.

Those interested will have an opportunity to head for an exciting journey through the Skyways of Lucky Land or go for a ride on the Fairytale Train. Those guests of LVM Nature Park in Tērvete, who have not yet managed to do it, are invited to take the first steps across the beautiful wooden bridge-laboratory.

New paths and a Pyramid of Power in LVM Pokaiņi Forest

With each passing day LVM Pokaiņi Forest is becoming greener, and more and more sonorous. It is a wonderful place to enjoy the tranquillity of nature, to draw inspiration and energy for future works, and this weekend - also to explore new paths and a pyramid.  Spring colours the life, nature inspires!

The new Path of Power in Pokaiņi Forest will take you on an exciting walk, allowing to enjoy the fragrant and invigorating spring air, as well as a blue, yellow and white carpet of flowers. Everyone interested will have an opportunity to explore the new pyramid: visitors can enter the pyramid, sit down and take up its invigorating and healing energy. It is interesting that already three couples who visited the pyramid, have chosen it as the place for their marriage ceremony.

This spring a new path has been created in LVM Pokaiņi Forest, which will take the visitors on a fascinating walk along special stones and stone piles. The path was made during the cleaning of stones, revealing a long row of stones and a little further - a stone boat. Such unexpected and beautiful discoveries are to be found in the forest! And this is not it. Currently in LVM Pokaiņi Forest active work is taking place on the creation of the Path of Beautiful Sceneries; in this path there will be both - slopes with high hills and beautiful natural landscapes.

Tourist season opening in LVM Kalsnava Arboretum

On 30 April LVM Kalsnava Arboretum will open its doors for the new tourist season, showing the advantages of the new ticket office building, as well as a variety of collections of unusual trees, shrubs and lianas. Guests can either visit the Arboretum by themselves, or together with environmental guides, heading for an educational tour in the world of unseen trees.

Also here a special programme for the wedding ceremony is offered to newly-weds and wedding guests. If the weather conditions are unfavourable, there is an opportunity to organise social events, seminars and conferences for up to 60 people on the second floor of the ticket-office building.

LVM Kalsnava Arboretum carries out long-term observations, studying the tree development, suitability for certain climatic conditions, as well as seed production and propagation opportunities.

Those who enjoy garden works are offered to purchase ornamental tree and shrub seeds; florists and others interested have an opportunity to choose the necessary materials (cones, seeds, capsules, twigs) and waterlily seedlings.

A place where to choose seedlings cultivated in Latvia - the 13th Latvian Seedling Parade in Sigulda

This weekend the 13th Latvian Seedling Parade will take place in Sigulda Celebration Square with the participation of only Latvian nurseries, thus promoting and highlighting the Latvian seedling production industry. The staff members of JSC "Latvia's State Forests" (LVM) unit "LVM Sēklas un stādi" (LVM Seeds and Plants) will introduce the visitors to the seedlings of ornamental trees cultivated in the company's nurseries, also offering advice about the ways to improve their growing conditions.

During the event, nurseries from all over Latvia will offer a wide range of summer flowers, fruit trees and berry bushes, ornamental trees and shrubs, as well as perennial flowers and other plants. There will also be a crafts market with Latvian craft goods and food, as well as garden products and appliances.

Getting ready for the mountain biking race in Smiltene

On 30 April, those who wish to indulge in sporting activities and enjoy the taste of the race, are invited to head to Smiltene to explore the track of the Latvian mountain biking SEB MTB marathon Smiltene stage. At this stage the participants will have to overcome both - the town pavement and meadows of Smiltene surroundings. Gathering - at 12:00 in Smiltene Town Square.

SEB MTB marathon Smiltene stage will take place on 8 May. JSC "Latvia's State Forests" supports active recreation in nature, and mountain biking enthusiasts are invited to go on the "Mother Nature" (Mammadaba) Health Track, while experienced athletes will be able to compete in agility, experience and endurance in the 59 km long Toyota Hybrid Track, and the most popular Virši-A 38.6 km track. Meanwhile, the youngest cyclists are invited to take part in Rasēns Track for children.
