Donation of JSC "Latvian State Forests" (LVM) for social projects, based on the tender results, was distributed on 1 March. This year, the targeted donation of 308 965 euros was awarded to 86 public benefit organisations, providing assistance to 61 578 people in Latvia, employing 302 persons and involving 839 volunteer helpers. Donations will reach the social benefit organisations with the help of the organisation ziedot.lv.
"Each socially responsible company has to make its contribution to help people in need and improve their quality of life, by supporting nationally significant charitable, cultural, sports and educational projects. JSC "Latvian State Forests" works very actively in these areas, and donations are only a part of the social responsibility programme implemented by the company. These are also dividends to the company's owners - the state. In fact, half of the dividends paid to the budget of state owned companies are the dividends from the profit gained from the economic activity of JSC “Latvian State Forests”. Last year LVM contributed more than 52 million euros to the state budget," says Tomass Kotovičs, the Head of LVM Communications Division.
The donation was divided into four priority areas of social assistance:
Of the 86 supported public benefit organisations, 36 organisations will receive this support for the first time. "LVM has a great pleasure to support social projects, especially those that will be implemented in the regions. The increasing number of applications suggests that the decision made five years ago to cooperate with the three public benefit organisations - foundation "Ziedot.lv", "Latvia Children's Fund" and "The Samaritan Association of Latvia" - was the right thing to do. Through these organisations our donation goes directly where it is most needed, and gives the greatest benefit," says Tomass Kotovičs.
Altogether applications were received from 227 public benefit organisations for a total of 1 million 497 thousand euros. A detailed list of beneficiaries of the donation is available on the website of the foundation "Ziedot.lv" www.ziedot.lv.
