In 2015 Latvian State Forests (LVM) Nature Park in Tērvete was visited by 149 thousand guests, which is the largest number of visitors in the Park's history. Compared with 2014, the number of visitors of the Nature Park in Tērvete has increased by 28%. Both, young and old guests from Latvia as well as abroad last year participated in a number of exciting events and educational discoveries that took place in the Park.
The Park's popularity has grown not only among the locals, but also among foreign tourists, who are interested in the recreation opportunities offered in LVM Nature Park in Tērvete, and their number last year reached 42% of the total number of Park’s visitors. One of the friendliest places for a family in Latvia was visited by guests from almost all the European countries, as well as by tourists from distant and exotic countries like Australia, Peru, Canada and China. A large share of foreign tourists come from our neighbouring countries - from Lithuania (84%); also the number of nature friends from Estonia has increased significantly (12%).
Every year LVM Nature Park in Tērvete does its best to surprise its guests with something new and exciting. The Park is most popular with families and groups of school students. Almost 10 thousand pre-school children and primary school children took the opportunity to spend their leisure time in nature, getting involved in environmental explorative activities, going on field trips, participating in camps and environmental workshops.
Last spring school children and adolescents headed for an exciting journey through the newly opened Skyways of Lucky Land - a trail ten metres above the ground made of ropes and wood. In summer, visitors were offered a variety of concerts and educational performances about things and processes going on in the forest. In turn, at the end of the year guests could enjoy a play of lights at the park entrance - right next to the new pedestrian bridge - the laboratory.
Every year both children and grown-ups are happy to once again meet their beloved fairy-tale characters who welcome the visitors and invite them to participate in more than 30 events that take place throughout the year.
The highest wooden view tower in Latvia has become very popular among the guests of the Park, and each third nature friend has climbed up to enjoy the beautiful view; in turn, each fifth visitor has taken the opportunity to go for a ride with the Fairytale Train.
The area of LVM Nature Park in Tērvete covers more than 1 200 ha, of which more than 400 hectares are landscaped for visitors. Every year JSC "Latvian State Forests" performs substantial infrastructure maintenance and improvement works in the Nature Park in Tērvete.
