As the spring is approaching, days are getting longer, and nature friends can enjoy spare time activities in nature. To make the time spent in the forest both enjoyable and educational, JSC "Latvia's State Forests" (LVM) invites everyone interested to take part in the open Forest Days events. From April till the end of May all forest friends have an opportunity to take a walk in the forest together with a LVM expert to learn about the importance of forest management and see how the Latvian forest is growing; they are also kindly invited to take part in forest clean-ups.
During the open Forest Days events that will take place from April till the end of May each forest friend has an opportunity to find out about forest management processes, as well as see with their own eyes how the Latvian forest is growing.
The Forest Days events are open to schools, youth organisations, families, institutions, companies and other persons interested. All events are free of charge; participants only need to take care of their transportation to the venue and some refreshments for energy.
The number of places is limited, therefore visitors are invited to apply in a timely manner, by contacting the persons listed in the JSC "Latvia's State Forests" forestry contacts.
The Forest Days have a long tradition, and they are organised to demonstrate how LVM manages state property entrusted to the company: how, why, when and how much is being done in the forest. "In this case it is not the scope of work done that is of key importance, it is people's involvement and interest in forest and the works that still need to be accomplished. We want to speak to people, we want to show them how our forests are growing," says Kaspars Riže, LVM Senior Forest Expert.
For schools it gives additional opportunities to take part in the Mother Nature (Mammadaba) master class.
