Already for the second year JSC "Latvian State Forests" (LVM) organises a competition for school children with the aim to choose the annual Forest Days' symbol - a sticker to be given to each participant of the Forest Days’ events. Out of 1 000 works, the one submitted by Dace Elizabete Miltiņa, a 6th grade student of Riga Avoti Primary School, was recognised as winner this year.
The winner, together with her teacher, classmates and friends will have an opportunity to go on a free educational tour in the forest "Forester's Footsteps" guided by LVM experts.
The students' task was to create a design for stickers of the annual LVM Forest Days’ events, and the theme for the year was "Forest is growing, and so are we!”.
Every year LVM invites school children and other nature friends to participate in the annual Forest Days’ events that take place in many different places all over Latvia. Visitors are welcome to attend the educational Forest Days' tours: school students can learn about forest management processes, set up nest boxes or take part in clean-up works, depending on the season of the year and weather conditions.
Thanks to all the contestants!
Last year, from out of more than 1 000 works, the jury, composed of 200 LVM staff members, decided that the winner was Lāsma Cirsiniece, a 4th grade student of Jersika Primary School.
