For holiday inspiration – a guide to autumn landscapes and sensations

It is not like the golden autumn can be enjoyed only in one place in Latvia – also in zones managed by JSC "Latvia's State Forests" (LVM), it has arrived in colorful shades, and in every recreation area  – slightly different but special.

LVM Nature Park in Tervete can be especially proud of its landscape this season, that can be seen not only from the impressive wooden watch tower, but now also from the Skyways that lead to the Lucky Land – yes, the same one the famous storybook hero Spriditis was looking for. Furthermore, autumn has arrived not only in nature, but also at the Dwarf Homestead – here autumnal souvenirs and presents are made together with Dwarf Mom and Dwarf Dad, but the knowledgeable environmental specialists reveal autumn secrets through exciting excursions.

Near the heart of Latgale – Rezekne, on the highest hill in Ancupani Forest is a 28.5 m and 121 step high wooden watch tower, where one can not only warm up, but also take in the season to the max - from moss on the ground to the top of the trees. To regain strength, one can use the nearby recreation area, where you will want to enjoy an outdoor picnic.

Where else can one enjoy the serenity and beauty of the fall landscapes if not on the trails of a bog? The Tirumnieki Bog trail is especially beautiful during the autumn – the colorful tree topS can be seen in the crystal clear mirror of Tirumnieki Lake, while in the moss one can still find a couple of dark red cranberries. If someone is worried about getting their feet wet, stepping on the 800 m long wooden plank pier will keep the feet dry.

Especially at LVM Kalsnava Arboretum, the change of season is even more apparent – autumn has arrived here not only with a new harvest of seeds and leaf colors, but the park itself, too, has undergone transformations. Tourists can now enjoy bridges and a garden arbor – in order to witness the rhododendron forest, find unusual shrubs and trees, one must cross at least three bridges. But the largest structure – the new booking-office building – is still under construction, and visitors will be able to appreciate it already next season.

Skriveri Dendrology Park offers many beautiful corners and romantic bridges, perfect for love birds to enjoy a time for two not only among the decorative greenery, but also on an island in the lake. Who said that surrounded by red leaves, autumn is not the right time for love?
