JSC “Latvia's State Forests” announces scholarship competition

In order to foster students’ growth and education in forestry, the JSC “Latvian State Forests” (Latvijas valsts meži) has announced a scholarship competition this year again. Scholarships will be available in the following programs: environmental education and communication, conservation, forest management, applications of wood, management of subsoil assets, geographical information systems in forestry, and there will be special scholarships for the best students at the Ogre Technical School.

Students in various fields of study, including forestry, forest ecology, environmental education and communication, tree breeding and tissue culture, forest management and planning, logging management, forest infrastructure, geology, wood processing, geographic information systems, logistics management, etc., can apply for LVM scholarships. The scholarships are meant to motivate students to further improve their knowledge and skills. The scholarships are not just monetary incentive, they offer students the opportunity to acquaint themselves with the various aspects of industry by participating in forest days, attending seminars, and doing fieldwork in forests.

The competition is also targeted at the best 2nd year students at the Ogre Technical School who study to become forestry technicians, forestry machinery operators and mechanics. 1st year students are awarded incentive scholarships that are paid during the 2nd semester.
