Up to July 12, we lived through and enriched ourselves in the festive atmosphere of the XI Latvian School Youth Song and Dance Festival – the extensive program consisted of more than 50 events. JSC "Latvian State Forests" (LVM), too, invited the festival's participants and devotees to an environmental workshop at the Botanical Gardens of the University of Latvia (LU), featuring street theater – the young visitors could participate in the Kalsnava Arboretum's tree leaf games.
As part of the environmental workshop "Burto dabā, vidē, Visumā…" (Spell Out in Nature, Environment, the Universe…), specialists at Kalsnava Arboretum invited the festival's participants to LU's Botanical Gardens to a game of leaf puzzles, the special Kalsnava Arboretum's leaf domino, and circus. While the children got carried away with games, teenagers and parents listened to stories from the workshop managers about numerous different trees growing in the arboretum, as well as their cones and seeds.

As part of JSC "Latvian State Forests" Song and Dance Festival's "Letter Spell", the Festive Alphabet included the letter "R", which stands for the festival's virtue – Rotāties (to beautify oneself). We undoubtedly “beautified” ourselves in the charming folk costume during the entire Festival, we adorned the surroundings with beautiful songs and merry dances. Games had an important role in preparing for the Festival. We can be proud to live in a land abundant with green forests and meadows, we can make beautiful wreaths from flowers and leaves, we can make herb strings and beautiful bouquets for the festival's procession. The School Youth Song and Dance Festival is illuminated in green gold.
Anyone can participate by solving LVM's tricky crossword puzzle at http://dziedundejo.lv/burtu-burviba/25/. Four lucky winners of the crosswords will get tickets to Tērvete Nature Park.
