"LATVIAN STATE FORESTS" AWARDS THE MOST ECO-INNOVATIVE IDEA

"Meet Me!" – a construction of wooden and metal modules, uaing different sitting and support planes, devised by Ligita Brege, Juris Krumins, and Janis Reinfelds – won the Most Eco-innovative Idea Award in the competition "Ideju kauss 2014" (Idea Cup 2014), organized by the Investment and Development Agency of Latvia.

This year, a total of 314 business ideas were submitted for the competition. 132 won the opportunity to enter the second round of the competition. Winners and an exhibition of this year's twelve best business ideas were announced at a ceremony at the wooden renovations center "Koka Riga" (Wooden Riga) on December 11.

The 2014 Best Business Idea Award was presented to Janis Zilvers and Liene Zilvere's idea – a holiday drink called "Rabarber". Dita Lapsa, Davis Vilcans, and Peteris Rucs' idea - an "Information system for purebred dogs" won second place, followed by Valters Sturis, Osvalds Trofimovs, and Ieva Makena's "[Marshmallow] decorative concrete design products."

Idea Cup is a competition of business ideas. Its goal is to facilitate the creation of new enterprises, thus, stimulating Latvia's economic growth. The competition offers an opportunity for young residents of Latvia to realize their business ideaS and to acquire the necessary knowledge, contacts, and money for starting a business.

The Investment and Development Agency of Latvia has been organizing Idea Cup for eight years already. The competition is sponsored by "Latvian State Forests", the Freeport of Riga Authority, "Aldaris", and Riga Business School.
