JSC Latvia’s State Forests, for the seventh year, invites schools to bring studies and nature closer together by participating in the joyful Mammadaba Master Classes and the healthful Forest Olympiad!
The Mammadaba Master Classes invite teachers and students to head out into nature during classes and take time off to plant and tend forests, make and set up birdhouses, take part in the Forest Olympiad and visit Mammadaba tourism sites. The regulations and application forms for 2013/2014 Mammadaba Master Classes are available at www.mammadaba.lv/skolam (Master Classes section).
Teachers, who will apply for Master Classes by September 15, will receive calendars as reminders and various environmental education materials during the entire school year. At the end of the school year, the most active teachers will be able to participate in creative continued education summer courses on forests, and the most active schools will be granted the title of Mammadaba embassies and receive special prizes. All participants, depending on their efforts, will receive apprentice, journeyman or master’s diplomas and green prizes!
More and more teachers and pupils take part in the Mammadaba Master Classes each year. More than 7,300 pupils and teachers from 87 Latvian schools completed the 2012/2013 Mammadaba Master Classes. 2,595 of them received master’s diplomas, 1,649 – journeyman’s diplomas, 3,063 – apprentice’s diplomas. Seven Latvian schools, that participated in the most activities and involved the largest number of pupils and teachers in learning about forests, received the Mammadaba flag and were accredited as Mammadaba embassies on the first day of the school year.
The goal of the Mammadaba Master Classes is to promote understanding between teachers and pupils on the diverse importance of forests in our lives. The Mammadaba Master Classes are organized by JSC Latvia’s State Forests, the main cooperation partner – the Education and Science Ministry’s National Education Centre.
