Latvia’s Golden Code of Conduct to be unveiled on Town Hall Square

On August 8, Cūkmens (Pigman), the mascot for JSC Latvia’s State Forests’ (LVM) campaign “Don’t Litter in Forests!”, will unveil Latvia’s first Golden Code of Conduct. Cūkmens has surveyed Latvians, establishing norms of decorum, as well as specific forms of behaviour that Latvians consider inappropriate. For example, 31 percent believe that eating noisily or appearing “half-naked” in public is unacceptable. 95 percent point out that it is absolutely unacceptable to toss paper, cigarette butts and packaging onto the street or in forests.

Unveiling the special environmental object – Latvia’s Golden Code of Conduct, which will reveal to each and everyone the basic principles of good conduct in Latvia in a creative and easy-to-understand manner, Cūkmens will address both residents and guests, urging not to litter in Latvia’s forests, and popularizing Latvia as one of the world’s greenest countries.

We invite media representatives to the presentation of the research study “Don’t Be a Pig or How to Behave in Latvia” and the unveiling of Latvia’s Golden Code of Conduct on Rīga’s Town Hall Square at 11 a.m. on August 8.
