“Latvia's State Forests” and Cūkmens take part in Big Cleanup Day

This year, the long-time supporter and organizer of the Big Cleanup Day - JSC “Latvia's State Forests” (LVM) invited one and all to participate in cleanup jobs not only in forests, but also in cities and towns. This past Saturday, Cūkmens (Pigman), the main character of LVM campaign “Do Not Litter In Forests!”, also fought for a cleaner Latvia, cleaning up pedestrian, cyclist and Nordic walking roads in Carnikava Region – beginning in the town of Carnikava and continuing on to the sea.

With support from LVM, a new cross-country skiing track will appear, as well as a new starting area at the Zibeņi Ski Facility. Just like any other event organized by LVM, Big Cleanup Day led to cleaner and greener forests. The participants of the event did not only pick up litter, but also planted trees, tended recreation areas and set up birdhouses. LVM tree seedlings, a gift presented to the Courtyard Improvement Movement, were planted in city and towns. The motto of this year's Big Cleanup Day was “A clean Latvia begins in your head!” LVM also urged everyone to think about making your natural surroundings more beautiful. Picking up litter is only a struggle with consequences. Cleanup efforts can lead to an environment that has no place for litter.

LVM has more than 240 cleanup and forest planting events this spring. The company not only supports Big Cleanup Day, but also continues the campaign “Do not litter in forests or you will turn into a pig!”, whose main character is Cūkmens. Cūkmens has already begun the battle against littering in forests and will continue to educate children and youth all summer long.
