Ančupānu Observation Tower unveiled

The total number of observation towers constructed in JSC “Latvia’s State Forests” (LVM) territory has gone up to eight, since another one opened in the Ančupānu Hills near Rēzekne on October 11.

Rēzekne is a picturesque city, built on seven hills. The Ančupānu Hills, a highly popular recreation area among city residents, stand out even among high forests and swamps. Now, the 28.5-meter Ančupānu Observation Tower stands proudly at the top of the hill, 186 metres above sea level, offering a breathtaking view of golden leaf-covered Rēzekne, Jermolu and Odumovas forests, Lake Adamova and its islands.

LVM Northern Latgale Forestry colleagues have done a great job in tending the surrounding area, and Northern Latgale Forestry CEO Viktors Reblis expressed hope that this location will be a pleasant one for recreational activities in the forest.

Rēzekne City Council Chairman Monvīds Švarcs pointed out during the tower’s unveiling that everyone should climb up to see how beautiful Latvia is, driving away any desire to leave the country.
