Last weekend (October 20-21), when temperatures exceeded 18 degrees Celsius in several locations throughout Latvia, a record number of visitors flocked to enjoy recreation in nature in one of the most popular tourist attractions in Latvia – Tērvete Nature Park. More than 5,000 Latvian residents and guests from neighbouring countries embraced the warm autumn sunrays.
The carpet of golden leaves, winding through the Fairytale Forest, led children and adults to the impressive Playground, which, thanks to support from JSC “Latvia’s State Forests”, was expanded and upgraded this year. At the Playground, all visitors had access to “the Lair of Lutausis” outdoor fireplace, the exciting track of Sprīdītis and Lutausis, the Wooden Castle of Adventures, where both young and old alike could test their strength in overcoming obstacles.
Those who wished to combine a walk in Tērvete Nature Park with a ride on the Fairytale Train, boarded at the Playground and travelled to the Dwarfs’ Forest. Children were particularly happy to roam through the small wooden houses of the Dwarfs’ Village, meet with a dwarf mom or a dad in the recently-built dwarf farm and say hello to the sheep.
Tērvete Nature Park will welcome visitors in November and December as well. After a forest walk, everyone will have a chance to enjoy a cup of warm tea in the cosy dwarf farm and meet with dwarf family members. In the middle of Tērvete Nature Park, “Mammadaba” Café will also offer a hot lunch.
