Lake Lielauce boat station, managed by JSC “Latvia’s State Forests”, has been participating in the competition “Auce – Spruced Up and Verdant Region” and has been honoured as the most successful tourism opportunity.
Lake Lielauce is special. The White Castle of Lielauce lies proudly on its shore, while the lake itself has become famous for being rather inaccessible, tucked away by its swampy shores. Nevertheless, anglers and bird watchers have known for a long time that there is a 200 metre long plank-way leading from the Lielauce Castle to the lake’s shore. They also know that wonderful relaxation awaits at JSC “Latvia’s State Forests’” boat station – 15 boats, tables, a shelter and a campfire area with a cauldron for fish soup. This summer has brought an unusual novelty – two four-room cabins on the lake, making this beautiful place even more interesting.
Of course, comfort is commendable. However, the boat station has always been well-tended. It seems that such a picturesque area does not require much more than a boat and a table to sit at, but this is not true. The tidy boat station creates a feeling of being welcome, encouraging its guests to behave respectfully and not litter the lake’s shores. We have always been delighted about the boat station and our guests have enjoyed it as well, thus receiving the award and recognition.
Lake Lielauce is located in Lielauce County, Auce Region. Boat station phone: 26556771
