Wood grouse songs in state forests

Wood grouse courting songs are being logged in forests run by JSC “Latvia’s State Forest”.

The collected data will help develop new measures to improve the birds’ habitat and increase wood grouse populations. Scandinavia’s experience has proved that well-organised forest management can achieve much more than introducing stringent protection regime for areas inhabited by wood grouses.
