LVM to cooperate in professional education

The joint-stock company “Latvia’s State Forests” has signed a memorandum of cooperation with Ogre State Technical College, envisaging 18 directions for cooperation.

Both sides have resolved to cooperate to ensure young and highly qualified specialists for the forest sector’s labor market each year. The specialists will responsibly manage Latvia’s national wealth – forests.

The sides have also agreed to cooperate in matters related to educational content, emphasizing and developing new educational and qualification practice programs and examination content required by the sector. “Latvia’s State Forests” plans to participate in student education by establishing a scholarship program and providing other support options for achieving their professional growth. Bilateral cooperation envisages support for Ogre State Technical College teachers, their further education and in-service training at LVM structural units and educational seminars.

“Latvia’s State Forests” also plans to take part in ensuring the college’s strategic development by providing support in procurement of educational equipment and participating in implementation of various joint projects. The cooperation agreement also envisages LVM experts’ involvement in Ogre State Technical College’s operations.

“Latvia’s State Forests” CEO Roberts Strīpnieks: “The forest sector provides a large contribution to Latvia’s economy. Therefore everyone is interested in a stream of young and professional specialists each year.”

Ogre State Technical College is the only professional educational establishment in the country that trains forest managers and technology specialists.
