School children create advertisements dedicated to forests

“Forests are the main natural resource humans require on a daily basis. Forests support us every day, supplying us with oxygen, wood and food. If not for forests, man would have never existed. Forests may well do without people, but it does not mean that we cannot help them and show our gratitude for their existence. We support forests, and forests support us!” says Artūrs Grugulis, commenting on his advertisement.

The slogan for the competition of creative advertisements “Cita Holivuda” (Different Hollywood) was: “Had Enough of Various Advertisements? Create Your Own!”; the competition was targeted at pupils in grades 5-12.

The task for the participants in the competition, set by JSC “Latvia’s State Forests” (LVM), newspaper “Diena”, business education association “Junior Achievement – Young Enterprise Latvija” (JAL) and Euro AWK, was to invent an advertising slogan and make a sketch of an outdoor poster popularising the idea of interaction between man and forest: FOREST FOR PEOPLE.

LVM representatives on the jury selected the winning design out of 300 works submitted by pupils in 5-12 grades: Artūrs Grugulis from Limbaži 3rd High School’s grade 11A. The poster designed by Artūrs will soon be displayed in all the major cities of Latvia.

The competition was organised by the business education association Junior Achievement – Young Enterprise Latvija. The goal was to show and teach pupils about the creation of various advertisements for different companies and targeted at different audiences, and the importance of creativity and content of such advertisements.
