New FSC Certificates

JSC “Latvijas valsts meži” (LVM) continues its certification process. This week, FSC forest management certificates were granted to forest management districts of Zemgale (trademark licence code FSC-C105700) and Vidusdaugava (trademark licence code FSC-C105701).

The forest management certification was performed by the globally well know certification body Scientific Certification Systems.

Already around mid-summer this year, FSC forest management certificates were granted to forest management districts of Rietumvidzeme (trademark licence code FSC-C102417) and Ziemeļkurzeme (trademark licence code FSC-C102418). The company also holds the FSC Chain of Custody Certificate which allows to supply certified timber to processing companies.

Roberts Strīpnieks, Board Chairman of JSC “Latvijas valsts meži”: „The new certificates are good news to our cooperation partners, as they allow to increase the supply volumes of timber certified this way.”

LVM is determined to certify all of its forests under the FSC and PEFC certification schemes. The company has been able to arrange its databases so that the entire timber supply chain can be tracked back to the felling site in accordance with the requirements established in both schemes.
