KALSNAVA ARBORETUM HAS ITS OWN INFORMATION CENTRE

On May 18 there was a celebration held in Kalsnava Arboretum in honour of the 30th anniversary since the foundation and the opening of the Information Centre

The event was in the office of LVM Seeds and Plants in Jaunkalsnava and opened with the Conference “The 30^th Anniversary of Kalsnava Arboretum” during which the former and current employees as well as their colleagues from similar organisations recalled and discussed the history of the establishment of the Arboretum, its role and place in the collection of dendrological plants as well as the current situation in the Arboretum and its future prospects.

The event was continued at the main Arboretum collection and exposition plantation site “Slodas” where branch officials jointly with the Local Authority representatives planted some memorial trees as a supplement to the collection.

At the event everybody interested got the opportunity to go on small trips across the territory of the Arboretum which was quickly chosen by many as the spring season can only be truly experienced by breathing in the scent of the trees in bloom and by watching the brisk green colour change into white, pink, yellow … heaps of flowers.
