REPLANTING OF STATE FOREST AREAS DRAWS TO AN END

As of 23.05.2007 the activities of AS Latvijas Valsts Meži towards artificial forest regeneration have been completed in an area of 6,312.20 ha or 85 % of the amount planned this year.

Mostly spruce trees have been planted this year – in an area of 3,318.30 ha, pine trees in 2,619 ha, as well as birch trees in 356,7 ha.

At present the forest planting has almost been completed in Zemgale, however in Kurzeme and Western Vidzeme, , where spring arrives earlier - it has drawn to an end.
