The Joint Stock Company “Latvijas valsts meži” (Latvia's State Forests) in 2006 are planning to sell 4,99 million m3 of timber, this being in average nearly by 25% more if compared with the previous years.
The director of “LVM Mežs” – a structural unit of “Latvijas valsts meži” – Edvīns Zakovics gives an explanation that the increase of the scope of authorised forest cutting is caused by a well balanced and levelled out annual distribution of maximum authorisation estimate, accepted by the government for the years 2006 to 2010.
