Two Large Pikes Caught In Kaņieris Lake

Together two pikes of 9 kg weight were caught with an angling rod in the Kaņieris Lake this month. On 4 May Sergejs Bondarenko managed to catch a pike of 9.15 kg weight, and on 15 May Ilmārs Barkovskis caught a pike weighing 9.0 kg. It is worth mentioning that Ilmārs, who is an enthusiastic fisherman, is also an eager supporter of nature protection; therefore after photographing his big catch he carefully let it back in the lake. Also in the previous year Ilmārs let a pike of 6 kg back in the lake. Who knows – maybe this was the same pike.
