There is currently a heavy snow cover in East Vidzeme region, and forest management workers go to the forest wearing snowshoes to do their daily work.
Forest workers always wear snowshoes in snowy winters. True, in the last four years, snowshoes were hardly used at all, because at that time there was little or no snow at all. This year, Alūksne felling planners have been using snowshoes since December, and now it is one of the best ways to move through the thick layer of snow.
When you have to walk several kilometres during a day, snowshoes are not the most comfortable means of transportation, and yet they allow you to move through deep snow without sinking in it. Snowshoes are a great help in everyday work, because otherwise walking turns into a big struggle, which requires both much more effort and time.
