JSC “Latvia's State Forests” (LVM) has successfully implemented a large-scale information technology project – in the first half of this year, the LVM GEO geospatial IT platform developed by LVM was implemented in the Swedish state real estate administration – “Statens fastighetsverk” (SFV). With the implementation of this project, LVM GEO solutions are now available not only in the Baltics but also in Sweden.
In Sweden, the LVM GEO platform has been adapted under the name “SkogsGEO” or “Forest GEO”, and it is already actively used by employees of the SFV's forest management department to perform their daily work, completely abandoning several previously used solutions. This is the first LVM GEO platform implementation project in Sweden, as well as the largest and most complex project implemented abroad so far.
In the course of the project, the complete LVM GEO platform solution was introduced and adapted to the client's needs – both a WEB solution for property monitoring and work planning and control, as well as a mobile app for collecting data in nature. The necessary integrations with state and local government institutions' information technology systems are also ensured. During the project, a version of the LVM GEO mobile app in Swedish was published and is now accessible to any resident of Sweden.
The right to conclude a contract with SFV was obtained through a procurement tender. Evaluating the work done, Director of the LVM Business Systems Solutions and head of this project Katrīna Amerika says: “When we undertook the project, we knew that it would not be an easy path. Many requirements, unknown legislative norms, system integration with third-party solutions, tight deadlines and customer expectations – all this gave additional tension and a sense of responsibility. Friendly and supportive communication and cooperation were a prerequisite to the success of the project. I highly appreciate our team's professionalism and willingness to take on challenges, accomplishing the incredible in a short period of time. We are already receiving the first feedback and invitations to cooperate with other organizations as well, so the satisfaction with our job done is even greater.”
LVM actively continues work on other IT export projects, currently finishing some projects in Estonia, whereas future countries and export markets have already been marked in the company's development plans.
