To strengthen, improve and develop cooperation between companies in the field of national security, JSC “Latvia's State Forests” (LVM) has joined the Federation of Security and Defence Industries of Latvia (FSDI Latvia). On 6 March, JSC “Latvia's State Forests” (LVM) held an annual general meeting of the members of the FSDI Latvia organization in the Riga Customer Centre to jointly look back on what was done last year and outline this year's activities for the development of security and defence capabilities within the framework of the European Union and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, as well as discuss the possibilities of providing support to Ukraine.
“LVM, as a socially responsible company, was honoured to host the members of the Federation of Security and Defence Industries of Latvia in its premises. It is support and creation of a common understanding on the issue of strengthening national security and building cooperation.
LVM manages 1.62 million hectares of state land, we have information on more than half of the state's territory, forest roads, roads used by freight transport and other valuable information for national security interests, which is maintained and available digitally in our GEO system. Moreover, the territory managed by LVM is often used for military training for the needs of the NAF and the National Guard, as well as for the construction of military ranges. Such a meeting of members of the organization in person is very valuable, besides, the NATO flag was to be seen for the first time in LVM's premises,” Valdis Kalns, a Member of LVM Board, talks about the meeting.
Elīna Egle, Chairperson of the Board of FSDI Latvia: “LVM is the manager of important critical infrastructure, which is essential for the stability of the national economy, and a strategic partner for the defence and internal security sectors. The company provides an essential resource for mobility, counter-mobility, and mobilization. LVM uses modern drone and satellite technologies in its work, works with large amounts of data and modern information and communication systems. Also, looking to the future, it is important to note the contribution of LVM in the implementation of climate neutrality measures, thus preventively reducing the involvement of SFRS and NAF in mitigating the negative consequences caused by emergency situations. It is a pleasure to work together in representing, promoting and supporting the security industry.”
