The LVM GEO platform, which was originally developed for the internal needs of JSC “Latvia's State Forests” (LVM) and supports the company's business processes, has been adapted to the relevant field and implemented in other companies as well. For the needs of JSC “Augstsprieguma tīkls” (AST), LVM has developed a specially adapted module in the LVM GEO mobile app, which will allow upgrading the survey of power lines, as well as ensuring faster data exchange with transmission network information systems.

LVM Board Member Māris Kuzmins: “For several years now, LVM Business System Solutions has been developing and maintaining the geographic information system of the AST transmission network. Now this system has been complemented by a mobile app module, which will make it easier for AST specialists to carry out annual surveys and process the data obtained. The specialized functionality of the mobile app was developed through the cooperation of specialists from both parties, each of them investing their professional knowledge and experience in it. We are pleased that it was through successful cooperation that we managed to create the best solution.”

“While implementing the digital transformation of AST, we have created several mutually integrated information systems, where all information is available about the performed and planned works in the transmission network and substations, it is a tool that helps to plan and control the state of the network more effectively. We have also been using drones to survey overhead lines for quite some time. The possibility to do “field work” and immediately transfer the data to the databases was only a logical next step in speeding up the processes and increasing the operational efficiency”, says Imants Zviedris, a Member of the AST Board.

With the help of the app, AST specialists will be able to record and update the technical condition of overhead lines in real time, identify places where the formation of defects is potentially possible, as well as mark the distance of the nearest vegetation and overhead line wires from the ground, evaluating the compliance of the distances with standards, while adding visual information about for the surveyed facilities. Also, the LVM GEO survey module provides access to the necessary online maps, as well as working with maps in offline mode, accurate location coordinates and routing functions, receiving geospatial tasks and other options.

The mobile app LVM GEO is the most popular map app in Latvia, the number of its active users exceeds 100 000 users. The public version of the app is a useful tool for those whose work responsibilities or recreation is related to being in nature, while the authorized versions of the app adapted to the business processes of organizations are used to perform specific work tasks and manage resources.
