On 19 April, JSC “Latvia's State Forests” (LVM) – cooperation partner and patron of the “Family-friendly Workplace” initiative – participated in the conference “Let's build a family-friendly society together!” organized by the Society Integration Fund (SIF), during which the company was presented with an appreciation award in the new “Honorary Employer” category.
“I would like to thank the Society Integration Foundation for creating and maintaining the “Family-friendly Workplace” programme. It is a long-term programme that addresses important issues for employees and society as a whole. The goals of our company are focused on the development and prosperity of Latvia, its residents and families. These are, for example, stable workplaces in the regions, and the implementation of environmental communication about a gentle and responsible attitude towards nature, and the provision of recreational opportunities, as well as care for employees, because happy and appreciated employees are the basis of the success of the company,” Tomass Kotovičs, Head of LVM Communication Unit, addressed those present at the conference.
During the conference, the invited experts shared their experience on creating a family-friendly society and work culture, the challenges of combining work and family life and the role of the municipality in ensuring a family environment, as well as on Finland's experience in the field of family support. Evaluating the performance of the participants, the organizers presented awards in the following nominations: “Honorary Employer”, “Honorary Family Certificate” and “The most Family-friendly Municipality 2022”.
To encourage employers to take care of their employees and honour the most family-friendly employers, SIF introduced the “Family-friendly workplace” initiative in 2021. The opening event of the initiative took place in Latvia’s State Forest Nature Park in Tērvete. In 2023, SIF programme participants were presented with awards in a new category “Honorary Employer”. Ten laureates were selected from 165 employers who are members of the “Family-friendly Workplace” programme and implement some special or innovative measures promoting the work-life balance of their employees.
